I composed this musical work in 2011 and is based on extensive research. My interest in researching
the Mayan astronomical calendar began at the end of 2009, I researched the long cycle of 25,625
years, which the Mayans called the galactic day, and this was made up of 5 mini-cycles of 5,125 years.
At the beginning of each mini cycle, the heart of the galaxy that the Mayans called Hunab Ku beats,
and it does so with a glow, each palpitation alters the universe and the stars, causing catastrophic
situations. The galactic day is made up of the galactic sunrise, galactic morning, the galactic noon, the
galactic afternoon, the galactic night.
In the year 2012 we were entering a new galactic day, we were at the new dawn, at the beginning of
a new era where the opportunity to take off the dirty clothes of our souls and put on renewed clothes
was the message of the Mayas. The old man had to die to make way for the new man. Based on this
fact I composed this piece that I consider one of my rock masterpieces.
The meaning of my piece is the reconciliation between part A and part B. Between part A and B there
is a mediator and this time it is Kukulkan who is also called the spirit of the wind, Kukulkan is a highranking deity in Mayan mythology. Honduras is a Central American country with one of the most
important Mayan cities in the world, this city is Copan, called The Mayan Acropolis. I chose Honduras
as part A and part B its citizens and as I wrote previously Kukulkan is the mediator. This piece has 5
parts that develop the story, the third part is the one that describes the ceremonial in the Mayan
Acropolis where the Mayan ancestors welcome the new sun that brings renewal.
